Yang Amat Berhormat Perdana Menteri, Dato Sri Mohamed Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Peter Chin, Yang Berhormat Datuk Nor Omar, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Yang Berhormat Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Sidek Hassan, Your Excellencies, ambassadors and high commissioners, ladies and gentlemen.

On behalf of the Malaysian Institute of Directors, may I thank everyone for putting aside time to be with us.

Let me begin by saying to the Prime Minister that you have inspired us. You have inspired us with the vision you have to transform this nation.

You have energized us, and you have challenged us with the boldness of your mission.

The Prime Minister can rest assured that Corporate Malaysia will not rest until we have achieved the aspirations you have set out for this nation.

In less than two years since he took office, the Prime Minister has laid out a set of strategic plans and programmes that has captured the imagination of our people across all sectors of industry.

As the Prime Minister has rightly pointed out in many of his speeches, government regulators must facilitate, and the private sector must accelerate in our drive to move the country to its new destination. There is no time for hesitation.

As we know it, the public and private sectors must strengthen their collaboration so as to work in greater cohesion. Only by working together can we succeed in building the ecosystem that we need to migrate the economy to the desired status by 2020.

The Prime Minister has singled out innovation as a key driver for all sectors, including the government machinery, if we are to lift ourselves into high income category.

Together we must create economic, social and political conditions that will empower the private sector to build and compete more effectively, more globally.

Together we must build momentum that will transform people and evolve a passion for excellence.

Together we must build a culture that not only encourages but celebrates creativity and innovation. We must build a culture for reinvention that will speed up the process of change and transformation.

The Prime Minister has set the direction. It is for us - both private and public sectors - to make it happen. We know only too well there is no other option.

How well we succeed in building the platform for public-private-collaboration will decide how well we succeed in bringing about pervasive innovation.

Clearly, in the drive for globalization, Corporate Malaysia must take the lead. Corporate Malaysia must be prepared to go where we have not gone before.

Seated in this hall, the Prime Minister would be pleased to know, are some of the brightest innovators and corporate leaders in the country, perhaps in the world; home grown heroes who have made the world their home.

To recognize the achievements of those who have been battling it out in the global marketplace, and who have effectively built a global presence, the Malaysian Institute of Directors has created an award to be presented every year for innovative leadership in globalization.

Today, we honour a selection of these leaders for their endeavours in taking Brand Malaysia to the world, and bringing the world to Malaysia.

But first, let us stand together as Corporate Malaysia, to applaud the transformational leadership of our Prime Minister.

The first time the Malaysian Institute of Directors was gathered for the same purpose was in 1982, the year of the inception of MID, when we honoured Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had become our fourth Prime Minister just a year earlier.

His citation was then read by the President of MID Tun Tan Siew Sin.

Today we confer Honorary Fellowship for the fourth time in 29 years upon Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak for his inspirational leadership.

It was on the third of April 2009 that Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak became Malaysia's sixth Prime Minister.

A man of vision and conviction who has already sacrificed more than half of his life in the service of his country.

This is a Prime Minister, the like of which we have never imagined.

He began his tenure as Prime Minister with a People First, Performance Now aspiration that is complemented by his signature call - One Malaysia - which has quickly gained nationwide support from all quarters, from all communities.

He bears the winds of change that the country needs in the turbulent times we live in today.

He has been relentless in his push for innovation to be injected into every corner of society and every sector of industry as well as the entire government machinery.

He has systematically crafted transformational roadmaps to take Malaysia to the realm of the privileged nations of the world.

He has rallied the entire nation behind the One Malaysia platform, and cultivated in Malaysians a deeper sense of cohesion, a greater sense of pride as a nation.

He has steered with firmness the policies aimed at building a country that will be respected for its creativity and corporate integrity; Policies that are already building global goodwill and confidence in this small nation that will benefit generations of Malaysians to come.

The Malaysian Institute of Directors, and as 1Corporate Malaysia, we salute the Prime Minister for his extraordinary leadership, that inspires best practices in both public and corporate governance to ensure a new global status for this nation.

May I congratulate the Prime Minister. And I thank you for the opportunity and wish you every success.
