Path to peace begins in man’s heart

Tan Sri, may I congratulate you on a most sensitive and meaningful article (A step to a more forgiving, more peaceful world) in your blog.

I hope it will succeed in opening more eyes and hearts around the world to the pressing need to silence the guns.

The goal we all seek is a world where diversity is celebrated and enjoyed; where differences of culture and religion contribute to the richness of mankind as a whole; and where all such differences only emphasise our common humanity and shared destiny.

War and/or the threat of war are being used to force peace. History has repeatedly shown us that peace cannot be gained from the barrel of the gun. Terror and oppression beget only more terror and oppression.

Despite this being the Information Age, there is a great deal of misinformation about the common ground all religions share – that of humanity, forgiveness, compassion and tolerance.

These noble values are being drowned out by the extremist elements that are destroying the peace, trust and understanding between peoples and nations.

The path to peace must begin in man’s heart and spirit. By wanting peace, we will work for peace.
