Last month Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing presented a sample of 100 brands and 1,000 designs to Prime Minister Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as a gesture of his complete support for the latter’s initiatives and vision for Malaysia to excel as a major global brand.
In the next three to five years, nearly 50 per cent of Malaysian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will lose out to their competitors and even shut down if they don't give priority to brand development, quality packaging and creative design.
The Malaysia Design Innovation Centre is collaborating with the Government and small- and medium-sized enterprises in training, branding and packaging programmes. The aim is to help them market brand-name products in the global marketplace, says Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Kok Wing.
Terengganu has become the first state in the country to launch its own brand and franchise, a bold move designed to turn it into the most progressive and innovative state outside the Klang Valley.
Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing added another feather to his cap when he was bestowed a Special Acknowledgement Award at the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia’s Crystal Award 2004 ceremony.
